And here I am… back from the amazing island Crete and the most inspiring holiday I’ve ever had. Greece, Crete, the Greek islands… sounded always good but I never had the urge to travel there. I had no reason… Maybe it just sounded too European to me. Due to a collaboration with the Villa Zoé I finally had a real reason to visit the dreamlike village Koutouloufari near Hersonissos. And now I lost my heart to Crete…
The landscape is truly amazing, the most beautiful flowers and plants are blooming all year. The ocean… nowhere else that blue! The sky also. The food – everywhere just delicious. The people? Friendlier and more open than ever. The culture – insanely interesting and even more exiting by the Greek mythology.
The Villa Zoé – Our little Paradise
Daniela welcomed us so warmly in her Villa Zoé that we had a direct feeling of belonging to the family. I had already seen some pictures of the Villa and its rooms, but in real it was much more impressive. Two white cyclades houses, a fantastic sea view, huge hibiscus and oleander plants, palmtrees and citrus plants and the chirping of the cicadas made us feel the mediterranean flair immediately and forget the everyday life. But there is also the very special design of the 5 rooms and the outdoor area of the Zoé. Here it’s all about boho style, which I adore personally. As far as fashion is concerned, one can already win over me by ethno- and bohemian accessories, but as for the interior of the Villa Zoé, I was simply just blown away.
Buttermilk Kiss & Co.
You can choose between the rooms Buttermilk Kiss, Arrivato, Boho, Jacques and Carpe Diem. Each room has its own individual style, however they all have something in common: Their puristic ethnic look. In each room and also outside you will find enchanting and very special accessories, which Daniela and her husband Martin as former globetrotters collected on their journeys around the world: Shells from Sanya in the South China Sea, wooden lamps from Myanmar and the colorful pillows from Peru in which I simply fell in love. In addition, the cute wooden tables and chairs which are typical for Greece can be found both outside and in each room or on their wonderful huge terraces.
We spent our nights in the romantic “Boho” room. I was especially attracted to the peacock rattan chairs and this extraordinary wardrobe. It’s fascinating that you can admire the sunrise as well as the sunset in the most exquisite colors above the blue sea from the balcony. Have you ever brushed your teeth in the middle of your living room? Well, due to the natural wood basin which is standing in the living area – not in the bathroom – I made this crazy experience as well. Here you will find more information about the rooms.

Made with love: The perfect breakfast
Freshly squeezed juice from cretan oranges, vegetables and fruits directly out of the garden, greek yogurt with honey and nuts, spicy olives… all these and other mediterranean specialties you can enjoy here in the morning under palm trees. Starting the day couldn’t feel better. Paradise feeling granted!
Accessories and Souvenirs…
Daniela also runs a sweet, little shop where you can buy bags, jewelry and clothes in boheminan style. Of course I couldn’t resist…
The lovely Daniela
During the day you can rent a car and explore the most beautiful locations and beaches in that area. We received the best insider tips by our good fairy Daniela. Not far from the Villa Zoé, in the evenings you can stroll through the picturesque streets of Koutouloufari, explore charming shops and enjoy the delicious Greek specialties in their rustic tavernas. But look at the pics and convince yourself – or book immediately your next trip to Koutouloufari and your favorite room at Villa Zoé. You won’t regret it – I promise you! Thanks again to Daniela and Martin for your lovely hospitality. I will definitely come back soon!
