I still can´t believe it! I am the new Shopping Queen of Augsburg!!! WOW, I am so happy!
But – what does Shopping Queen mean? I´m sure most of my non-German readers don´t understand what I did on television and why I am the new so-called shopping queen. Now I´m telling you more about this crazy experience I made.
Here in Germany we broadcast a reality tv show called “Shopping Queen”. It´s about 5 women and the challenge to shop an outfit within 4 hours with a budget of 500,00 € (which gets sponsored of course). German fashion designer Guido Maria Kretschmer determines the style motto of the week and every day one girl has to shop an outfit within 4 hours concerning the defined motto. In the meantime the 4 other women visit the “shoppers” home and get the chance to snoop around her flat and her closet. At the end of the day the “shopper” has to present her outfit on a runway and the other 4 girls have to award it. They have a scale of points and are allowed to grade the outfit, hair + make up from 1 (really really really bad) to 10 (perfect). In the very end of the Show (on Friday) designer Guido appears live next to the girls in Berlin, and awards all 5 styles according to his own opinion. During the whole show he is commenting (not always polite 😉 )on the 5 girls while they´re chatting at the home in the clothing room of the “shopper” or also on the shopper while she is looking for her outfit in several fashion stores. The shopper who scores the highest points, wins the money gift of 1000,00 €.
Well, so I got the highest score from the other 4 girls (40 points – 10 points each) and 9 points from Guido which is more than an honor for me! The motto was “Black Beauty” – we had to create a total black look, which didn´t sound complicated at first, but due to the fact that we had to present 5 completely different outfits (which means if the Monday-nominee created a look concerning a long dress, the other 4 nominees weren´t allowed anymore to wear a long dress… etc. Kinda complicated, I know.
So, I was the Thursday-nominee and we already have seen black shorts on Monday, a short dress on Tuesday and a long dress on Wednesday, so the first thing I got on my mind when I woke up on Thursday morning was: “I need an overall or a classy pantsuit with an oversized blazer”. Yeah, I wanted one of those two things and my shopping accompaniment Martina (aka my BFF) totally agreed.
How was the tv shoot?
The week before the realisator visited me at home to check my flat, get to know each other and also to discuss the preparations regarding the shoot. The first shooting day which was Monday we all met really early at 7:30 a.m. and started shooting in the flat of the Monday nominee, and this was also the day we girls met for the first time and were also informed about the motto for the first time in order that none of us had the chance to create any outfit thoughts before. When the motto was released in Verenas (the Monday nominees) living room by Guido Maria Kretschmer via tv, our live reactions were recorded immediately. Of course this felt weird and in the beginning you don´t feel well if you never had any experience in being broadcasted on tv before. When Verena finally started her shopping tour, I had the chance to talk the whole day to the other 3 girls and so we got to know each other. Pretty soon it was clear that all girls were wonderful personalities and indeed we had a lot of fun together the whole week and a big friendship between 5 different women arised during the 5 days whe spent together from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
There is no script, the whole tv shoot and all the interviews were real and spontaneaus. The realisator asks the questions and sure, he gives some instructions, but in the end everything happened as it happened. You have to imagine that on tv you saw only a few seconds of an interview which in reality lasted about 30 minutes (or more). That´s funny. All 5 participants don´t know until the official broadcast which part of the interview will be shown on television. The fact is, when whole Germany watches the show for the first time, also the 5 participants watch it for their first time!
The girls:
I´m so thankful that I was given the chance to get to know these 4 wonderful and different types of women. We had so much fun, the girls were amazing and we spent a really nice week together. We still see each other sometimes for dinner or breakfast or just for a glass of wine. We are real friends now, and that was the greatest gift we all could get.
If someone would ask me if I´d do that again, I would say: “only again with the same 4 girls!”

THANK YOU SO MUCH to my BFF Martina, who was always by my side and withstood patiently the whole afternoon.
My boyfriend: He was the one who cleaned our whole flat before the tv-team entered. I really have to thank him so much for his help and also for encouraging me always in everything I want to do. <3
